Three Times A Charm with Patricia Josephine

Image
Welcome to Three Times A Charm. Where readers get to discover new books and learn a little about the authors who wrote them. Today we welcome Patricia Josephine. I recently 'met' Patricia when she participated in our January #InkRipples meme by sharing her book cover for the book she's here to talk about today! Let me first tell you a little about Patricia. Patricia Josephine was an art geek in high school, and never gave writing much thought. On a whim, she wrote down a story. It snowballed from there, and she hasn’t regretted a moment. She lives in Michigan with her hubby, likes to dye her hair the colors of the rainbows, and one day hopes to have what resembles a small petting zoo. She writes young adult under the pen name Patricia Lynne. So glad you could join us today, Patricia. Can you tell us about your newly released book, Abducted Life? My latest novel is a New Adult Sci-Fi Romance aka Sci-Fi-Rom (I’m so making that a thing if it’s not already. =P) S...

Author Interview & Review of Zombie Rapture by Stuart R. West

Image
Zombies spouting scripture – yeah, you heard me. Today I'd like to step up a few years from my usual young adult (and many years from my frequent middle grade) fair to share Stuart West's newest book, Zombie Rapture with you. About the book:   Life is good for Hunter Wright. He's just about to graduate from high school and he's found true love. Just in time to lose her. Because the Rapture's begun and those in his path, living and dead, stand in his way of finding her. And it's not the Rapture the faithful have been expecting either. Someone failed to tell the dead they’re not in Heaven. My review:   The incident that creates the zombies happens early on in the book, but we don’t learn the how behind it for a while. When our main character, Hunter, discovers his parents and his neighbors have been turned into crazy scripture spewing zombies he heads to his girlfriend, Jordan’s, house in the hopes that – like him – she’s been spared from ...

Laura Maisano Introduces Schism

Image
I'm excited to welcome Laura Maisano to Strands of Thought. She's here to talk to us about her book, SCHISM, which is days from release. Tap those fingers on your keyboards and make some noise for Laura! Author Interview How did you come up with the title for your book? I was playing with different concepts about dividing or separating. Since Illirin was separated from Earth, I felt I needed something to encompass that idea. SCHISM just popped out as the perfect word to describe that division. Give us a three-sentence description of the book. Since his tragic car accident, Gabe obsesses over getting his memory back. That’s until he meets Lea and her crazy theories about another dimension. Not only is her theory true, but neither of them could predict how this other world, that holds his past and her destiny, ties the future of both of their worlds together. Is there anything in the book based on real-life experiences? Yes, I’m glad you asked. As...

Author Angela Brown - Sharing the Why

Image
The other day I was browsing Facebook and saw a post with my buddy Angela Brown's name in the title, so I clicked. Holy cow. I'm glad I did. She's got new covers for her new adult Shadow Jumper books and I'm so in love with them, I contacted her immediately and said something like, "Please visit my blog so I can share them with the world, too!" She graciously agreed to share the why of the new covers. A very interesting story. Take it away, Angela. Thanks for having me here, Kai, and for the chance to share some of the background for some changes recently made to my Shadow Jumpers series. Let me start by saying that changing the covers wasn’t an overnight whim. This originated from me, as an author, accepting that I needed a little help (okay, a LOT) with my brand for my Shadow Jumpers series. I knew something was off so I reached out to a PR specialist for a consultation. She and I did some walk-throughs of my blog, my Facebook and my covers. One...

Book Spotlight on White Hellebore by Nicole Zoltack

Image
I'm stretching a tad outside my normal viewing audience today to bring you a new adult title. "WHY?!" you ask? One word: Superheroes. Sometimes it's two words: Super heroes. Either way, how can I not highlight this brand new book,  White Hellebore, (book 2 in the series) for the adorable author Nicole Zoltack when we all know my obsession with SUPERS!  Ladies and gentlemen, White Hellebore : EXCERPT: Closing his eyes, he listened intently, but no other sounds echoed throughout the empty corridors. The only heartbeat he heard, steady and rather slow, was his own. No one else was here. Maybe he was hearing things. Only the spotlight above the Egyptian statue was on, and Nicholas flooded the museum entrance with light with a flick of a switch. On Monday, Cathy planned to move the Statue of the Black-Hearted Kiya to the Egyptian exhibit, but for its big reveal, she placed it where everyone could see it as soon as they entered the museum. The spotligh...

Building Character with Rhaya and Zelene from Heirs of War

Image
Welcome to my blog feature, Building Character in which you get to meet a character from a book. Talking to a character outside of their book is fun! Huge. Amounts. Of fun.  This week Strands of Thought is host to Rhaya and Zelene from the new adult book, Heirs of War. Hello ladies, it’s so good of you to join us on Strands of Thought. Tell us a little about yourselves and what your life is like. Rhaya: Hello! I’m Rhaya. I’m nineteen, I’m a bit of an empath. Okay, that’s modest. I’m seriously an empath. It gets kinda weird, but it can be cool too. I would normally tell you all about how I’m a college student, and I work in a bookstore, and all the other usual stuff. But, um, I guess that really doesn’t apply anymore since I’m not even sure there are universities or bookstores in Estridia. Zelene : And I’m Zelene. I’m seventeen. I don’t have any magical power— Rhaya: Unless you count getting your ass kicked. Hey, don’t glare at me. That’s what you said before. ...
